Root Canals Explained: Understanding the Procedure and Recovery Process

Now, I know root canals have a bit of a bad rap. People often cringe at the mere mention of them, but let me assure you, they’re not as scary as they sound. In fact, they’re often the best way to save a damaged tooth and avoid the dreaded tooth extraction.

Enamel:

The hard, white outer protective layer of the tooth.

Dentin:
The soft inner layer of the tooth where decay spreads rapidly.

Root:
Each tooth can have up to three roots, depending on its location in the mouth.

Pulp:
The tooth’s nerve center. Infection here may necessitate a root canal.

Now, I won’t sugarcoat it – root canals can take a bit of time, but trust me when I say it’s worth it to save your tooth. Plus, we’ll do everything we can to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Pop in some headphones, close your eyes, and before you know it, we’ll be all done!

So, how long does a root canal procedure take?

On average, a root canal procedure can take about 90 minutes to two hours. However, the duration may vary depending on the complexity of the case and the number of roots in the affected tooth. Rest assured, our priority at Celina Endodontics is your comfort and the thoroughness of the treatment.

Signs include severe tooth pain, sensitivity to hot/cold, swelling, or abscesses. Consult a dentist for evaluation.

Root canals save natural teeth, maintain mouth structure, preserve aesthetics, and avoid the need for implants or bridges.

Alternatives like tooth extraction may be considered, but root canals are often preferred for preserving teeth and oral health.
